Toledo Bend Reservoir Fishing Report
for
January 1, 2010
Hello friends and fellow anglers. If your not fishing at this time in February, as warm as It’s you are missing some of the best bass fishing of the year. Since my last report the first of February, my prediction of the Bass busting loose at any time really surpassed my expectations. The weather has been for the most part has warm, up in the high 60’s and low 70’s during the day and mid 40’s at night. The water temp which is the key, ranging from 55 degrees up 59 according to what area of the lake you are fishing. Most of the areas that I have been fishing the last couple of weeks has produced several large Bass, 6 to 9 lbs. The depth that has been most productive for me and something to keep in mind as a pattern to go by is 5 ft. up to 1 ft. Lure choices vary but all are consistent and each one is catching quality Bass. Try these lures and hang on to your rod and real because from now through March you never know where or when that big bite will come. White spinner bait with tandem willow leaf blades, Sinkos rigged Texas style or wacky style with no weight, baby brush hog rigged Texas style using 1/8 to ¼ ounces weight, Crawfish pattern red rattle traps, and finess worms Texas rigged with light weight, and centipedes pegging a light weight 6 to 8 inches above the worm. Colors may vary but my main selection is watermelon with flake in it whether it is red, gold, orange and green, all have been catching.
