Bubba Cowser Recreation Area - SRA Texas Recreation Site #2

Tenaha Creek, Tx. in Shelby County, the park is owned and operated by the Sabine River Authority of Texas. Located on Toledo Bend Reservoir, the park has minimal facilities, primarily a boat ramp. (409) 565-2273
Directions:
- From Joaquin - the junction of Texas 7 and Texas FM 139 go South on Tx FM 139 for 11.2 miles to Tenaha Creek. The park is on the South side of the bridge.
- From Shelbyville - the junction of Texas 87 and Texas FM 417 go East on Tx FM 417 for 11.4 miles to junction Tx FM 417 / Tx FM 139. Turn North (left) onto Tx FM 139 and go 1.8 miles to Tenaha Creek. The park is on the South side of the bridge.

"Swede" Johnson Recreation Area - SRA Texas Recreation Site #1

Near Joaquin, Tx. in Shelby County, the park is owned and operated by the Sabine River Authority of Texas. Located on Toledo Bend Reservoir, the park has very nice facilities including playground, paved parking area and boat ramp, picnic tables, camping area, and restrooms. (409) 565-2273.
Directions:

From Joaquin - the junction of Texas 7 and Texas FM 139 go South on Tx FM 139 for 4.7 miles to junction Texas FM 2572. Turn East on Tx FM 2572 and go 1.7 miles to end of road. Road ends at Rec Area.

From Shelbyville - the junction of Texas 87 and Texas FM 417 go East on Tx FM 417 for 11.4 miles to junction Tx FM 417 / Tx FM 139. Turn North (left) onto Tx FM 139 and go 8.3 miles to junction Texas FM 2572. Turn East on Tx FM 2572 and go 1.7 miles to end of road. Road ends at Rec Area.

Toledo Bend Dam Observation Area

The Toledo Bend Dam Observation Area, at the dam and just off Highway R255 on Spur 135, is also the home of the headquarters of the Toledo Bend Division of the Sabine River Authority of Texas.

| The observation tower provides a good view of the lake from the inlet for the generating station and into the distance of the lake as it disappears into the North horizon. Public restrooms are also located in the base of the observation tower. Grassy and beach areas provide access for picnicing, swimming, and fishing. |

| Near Burkeville, Tx. in Newton County, the park is owned and operated by the Sabine River Authority of Texas. Located on Toledo Bend Reservoir. The park has group facilities, boat ramp, picnic tables, and restrooms. Take FM 692 north from Burkeville to R 255, west on R 255, 0.5 mile to park. (409) 565-2273. NOTE: The public boat ramp is just down R255 from the entrance to Rec Site 7. |
